Ira J. Blackburn II
Ira John Blackburn II went to be with our Lord on Jan. 12, 2014. He was born March 23, 1957, in Casablanca, Morocco, the son of Irene Mulberry and Worth Blackburn. He attended Bolivar Central High School in Bolivar, Tenn. Ira joined the U.S. Air Force
and served at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked many years as a fork lift driver in both Alabama and Tennessee. He was a member of Whiteville Baptist Church in Whiteville, Tenn.
Ira is survived by his sister, Carol (Jeff) Campbell, of Memphis, Tenn.; uncle, James (Vivian) Blackburn, of Lexington, Ky.; aunt, Margaret Haden, of Lexington, Ky.; aunt, Nancy Wyman, of Gahanna, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Blackburn, of Springfield, Ohio. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Brett (Margie) Blackburn, of Springfield, Ohio, Denise (Jefferson) Blackburn-Smith, of Columbus, Ohio, Heather (Jamie) Heath, of Meadowbrook, Ala., Matthew (Stephanie) Galliano, of Florence, Ala., Hannah Campbell, of Marysville, Ohio, and Joseph Campbell, of Memphis, Tenn.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews; and friends.
Ira was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Martha Galliano, a brother, David Blackburn, and a nephew, David Barnes.
Ira's memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home in Versailles, Ky. The Rev. George Haden Jr. will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Versailles Cemetery, Versailles, Ky. Guest book is available at BlackburnandWard.com
