Harry Gargis Obituary

Harry Eldred Gargis, 62, died Friday, June 12, 2009.

Harry was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Marines. He was a graduate of Colbert County High School, class of 1965, and a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church.

Harry was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Gargis.

He is survived by his mother, Lila Brown Gargis; his children, April Gargis (Josh Flood) and Derrick Gargis (Lisa); grandson Sam Gargis; brothers, Kenneth Gargis (Priscilla), Jackie Gargis (Diane), David E. Gargis (Julie), and Phil Gargis (Scarlotte); nine nephews, three nieces, 12 great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Mike Gargis, Mark Gargis, Matt Gargis, Darrell Gargis, David Isaac Gargis, Evan Gargis, Patrick Gargis, Phillip Gargis and Parker Gargis.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 14, with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Methodist Church, in Ford City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shady Grove Methodist Church.

Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
