James Oscar Canerday, age 83 of Florence, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, at El Reposo Nursing Facility after an extended illness.

He was a native of Lauderdale County, an Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired electrician from National Floor Company, and a member of Shiloh Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. Tim Grigsby will be officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery with military honors at the graveside.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Survivors are his wife Ethel Miller Canerday, Florence; sons, Danny Canerday, Greenwood, Ind., and Tim Canerday, Florence; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Porter & Hannah Canerday; son, James R. Canerday; brother, Billy Reed Canerday; and sisters Dorothy Clemons and Geraldine Clemons.
