Mrs. Annie Pearl Flint Adams of Columbus passed away Friday at Columbus Hospice House. She was 74 years of age and resided at 1220 Boxwood Blvd.
The daughter of the late James E. and Bessie Eggleston Flint, Mrs. Adams was born in Round Pond, Arkansas on June 1, 1939. She was raised by her beloved aunt and uncle, Willie F. and Sigglee Eggleston Abernathy. She was a graduate of Alabama State University, and was employed as an educator for 37 years, retiring from Lloyd Elementary School, Ft. Benning, GA as a media specialist. She was a former member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Ala., and was currently a member of the Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church where she served with PICCM, a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Advisor and with the Pastors Aide Ministry. She was also a member of the Columbus, GA Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Georgia Association of Educators.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Oliver Flint and George D. Flint; and a sister-in-law, Doris Flint.
Survivors include, her husband of 51 years, MSG (Ret.) James Edward Adams; a son, Steven V. Adams; two daughters, Stephanie Ziann Adams and Sylvia Adams-Epley (Robert); two brothers, Percy L. Flint (Ethel) and Leo Eggleston (Jewel); five sisters, Frances Louise Algee, Olivia Thompson (Arthur), Edwina Flint Hart, Bobbie Flint Patterson and Karen Flint; a sister-in-law, Louise Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Adams will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at the Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Flakes, III pastor officiating. The interment will be Saturday, November 8, 2013 at 12 Noon CST at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Ala. Visitation is Thursday 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Friday at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. "A Touch of Dignity or Those Who Care."
