Edward Alexander

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, the spirit of Charles Edward Alexander returned to God who gave it. He had sojourned on earth for 94 years and for the last two years had been a resident at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a World War II veteran and was retired from Reynolds Alloys. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 from noon to 2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Ronnie Pannell and Brad Adcock. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Lillian Marks Alexander; parents, Henry and Lina Alexander; grandson, Anthony Alexander; sisters, Bertha Angel and Mary West; brother, James Alexander.

He is survived by sons, Charles Alexander (Dot), Jerry Alexander (Clarisa); daughter, Cherion Crow (Charles); grandchildren, Duane Alexander (Jeri), Patrick Alexander (Shayla), Amy Thorpe (Wade), Darran Alexander (Valerie), John Charles Crow, all of Florence, Dena Laxson (Joseph), of Warrensburg, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Ben Alexander (Sara Beth), Katie Alexander, Andrew, Ryan and Morgan Alexander, Abigail, Autumn and Lily Grace Alexander, Jordan and Alex Byrd, Hunter Thorpe and Olivia Laxson.

Edward was an avid sportsman and enjoyed bird hunting. He took great delight in training his dogs and hunting with friends and family. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and was loved dearly by his family and many friends. He held himself to a high standard of conduct and expected no less from his children and grandchildren. His life was spent in trying to please God and with the hope of an eternal reward. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
