Elliot (Buddy) Bradford, 82 of Muscle Shoals, passed away May 9, 2013, at Helen Keller Hospital. Bud was born July 13, 1930, in Spring Valley, Ala.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday May 11, in the chapel. Burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Buddy retired from General Motors in Michigan in 1981. He then moved back home to Alabama in 1985.
Buddy had a great love for cars and always went to car shows. Buddy has had many classic cars of his own through the years. He was a great husband for 53 years to Ruth and a wonderful father to their only son, Jimmie Bradford, and adored all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Buddy faithfully attended church and was saved by the grace of God in 1971. He will greatly be missed by his family, friends and beloved pet, Scooter. He was a generous man and had a great concern for others. He was a friend to all who knew him and was especially close to his friend and nephew, Jimmy Bradford, of Muscle Shoals.
Brother Gerald Borden is officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hudea Bradford; brothers, Dan and Frank Bradford; sisters, Donie Williams, Grace Hand and Louise Walker.
Survivors include his loving wife, Thelma "Ruth" Bradford;
son, Jimmie Lynn Bradford (Krissy);
grandchildren, Jason Bradford, Justin Bradford (Amanda), Andrew Ward, Amanda Ward and Rebecca Bradford;
great-grandchildren, Landin Reece Bradford and Marleigh Lynn Ward;
sister, Betty Scott;
several nieces; nephews; and a large extended family.
Pallbearers will be Walter Hayes, Johnny Johnson, Jason Bradford, Justin Bradford, Andrew Ward and Troy Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Bradford, William Roberts and Landin Bradford.
