Evelyn grew up in both Colbert and Franklin Counties, attending schools in Sheffield and Waco.
She was one of four children who lived and managed to survive through the hard times of the great depression. She met her future husband, Earl Hulsey, in the early forties. After his service in the United States Navy, they married in 1945. Daughter Jo Carolyn was born in 1946 and son David was born in 1948. Younger brother, Chris, was born in 1956.
In 1949, Earl Hulsey enlisted in the United States Air Force and Evelyn was off to see new parts of the world. Over the next 16 years, the family lived in El Paso, Texas, Va., England, Ohio and Ark. Returning to the Shoals area in 1966, the family called Colbert County home as husband Earl worked for almost 20 years at Reynolds Metals. For the past 10 years, Mrs. Hulsey resided at Park Place in Sheffield where she had a host of dear friends.
Evelyn was a pleasant and kind person who possessed great love for her family. She taught by example and she has left this earth a better place because of her generosity to others. The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitchell Jr. and the caring staff members at Helen Keller Hospital and the Cottage of The Shoals.
Mrs. Hulsey was a member of East Colbert Church of Christ.
