Joshua G. Schmidlkofer

Joshua Glenn Schmidlkofer, 32, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Oct. 10, 2012. He was baptized at the age of 8 after accepting Christ in VBS at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church in June of 1988.

Josh was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors and with his friends. He found fulfillment in, and was very passionate about, his work as a computer systems specialist.

Josh was preceded in death by his father, John Glenn Schmidlkofer, Muscle Shoals; grandparents, Paul and Ruby Schmidlkofer, Florence, Wayne and Dorothy Rutherford, Muscle Shoals; uncles, Leon Rutherford, Muscle Shoals, Wayne Schmidlkofer, Ky.; and aunt, Glenda Harrison, Muscle Shoals.

He is survived by his loving mother, Peggy L. Schmidlkofer; sisters, Julie A. Goodwin (Jason), Jennifer L. Balentine (Eric); nieces, Jesse and Lindsay Balentine, Bailey Goodwin; nephew, Blake Goodwin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers are cousins, Ashley, Ryan and Chad Rutherford and very special friends, Paul Michael, Eric Denton and Matt Noah.

The visitation will be from 11 until 1 at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church on Thursday, Oct. 18. The service will follow in the church with Dr. Tom V. Whatley, longtime pastor and family friend, officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of the Cross at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

The family gives a special thanks to Joshua Michael Schmidlkofer, Oregon, for his thoughtfulness, kindness, and above all else, friendship to Josh during his stay in Oregon. "Jesus isn't invisible to Josh anymore." - Caleb Schmidlkofer, age 4.
