Lawrence Miller Sr., 99, of Florence, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Greenview Memorial Park, with his special friend Ron Phillips officiating. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Miller served in the US Army during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife Vada Brewer Miller.
He is survived by his daughter, Dean Fanning (Bud); son, Lawrence Miller Jr. (Charlene); granddaughters, Paige Abernathy (Keith), Dawn Dorman (Jon), and Hope Pennington; grandsons, Tim Miller (Jamie) and Todd Miller; great-grandchildren, Grayson Abernathy, Sabrina Dorman, Justin Pennington, Lyndsay Miller, and Joshua Miller.
The family would like to express their thanks to Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home and station 3 nurses and staff for providing loving care to Mr. Miller during the many years he lived there. The family would also like to express a special thanks to Ron and Brenda Phillips for their love, friendship, and kindness to Mr. Miller.
