Leonard Randolph Martin, Iron City, Tenn., was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Cloverdale, Ala., the son of the late George Paulk and Carrie Lindsey Martin. He was united in marriage to Nell Brewer on Dec. 22, 1946. Mr. Martin was a retired machinist foreman with TVA, a member of International Association of Machinists, Local 65, and was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Iron City, Tenn.
He departed this life on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at ECM Hospital in Florence, Ala., at the age of 86 years, 1 month, 8 days, and is survived by his wife, Nell Brewer Martin, Iron City, Tenn.; sons, Travis Martin (Mary), Lutts, Tenn., Kenneth Martin (Louise), Sammy Martin (Vicky), Charles Martin (Angie), all of Iron City, Tenn.; a daughter, Dianne Martin Todd, Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kelli Durrett, Brian Martin, Christie Littrell (Brent), Shaun Todd, Bridget Martin, Anthony Martin (Lisa), Tyler Martin (April), Cameron Martin (Abby), and Connor Martin; great-grandchildren, Will Durrett, Jack Durrett, Addie Kate Littrell, Eli Martin, Tessa Littrell, Ryan Martin, Knox Martin; a brother, Hassell Martin (Reba), Iron City, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by sons, Mark Martin and James Matthew Martin; daughter, Donna Rebecca Martin; brother, Vernon (Pete) Martin; and stepmother, Harriett Martin.
Services will be Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tenn., with grandson, Anthony Martin, officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery, Iron City, Tenn., with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.
Pallbearers will be Brian Martin, Shaun Todd, Tyler Martin, Cameron Martin, Connor Martin, Will Durrett and Jack Durrett.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Danny McFall, Dr. Felix Morris and the Palliative Care staff at ECM for the wonderful care in making our husband, father and grandfathers's final days with us comfortable and peaceful.
