Virginia LeMay Adams died April 16, 2008, at Huntsville Hospital at the age of 93.

Mrs. Adams was a native and longtime resident of Sheffield, Ala., having resided at Park Place Retirement Home before moving to Windsor House Nursing Home, in Huntsville, in 2007.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bruce LeMay and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melville M. Adams, in 1985.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph, Porter, Bruce and Jack LeMay.

She graduated from Sheffield High School, Florence State Teachers College and obtained a master's degree from the University of Alabama.

She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Kilby Professional Laboratory at the University of North Alabama.

Mrs. Adams was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, of Sheffield, having served in a number of ministries and committees. She was also active in the Order of St. Luke and a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Funeral services will be at First United Methodist Church, in Sheffield, Ala., on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour before the service. Pat Finley and the Rev. Chuck Worley will officiate, with interment at Oakwood Cemetery, in Sheffield.

She was a devoted mother to sons, Mel Adams (Ann), of Madison, Ala., and John Adams (Cindy), of Sheffield. Surviving grandchildren included Bob Adams (Shari), of Birmingham, Christy Adams of Houston, Texas, Jennifer DeMorse (Tim), of Sheffield, Kimberly Lancaster (James), of Lakewood, Colo., and Deborah Glenn (Chris), of Brentwood, Tenn., as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Catherine, Emma, and Anna Claire DeMorse. She also was survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be composed of family members and friends. Suggested memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Gideons International.

Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
