Though I never knew Don, his daughter Margy babysat me for years as a child in New York City and was truly wonderful to me and my brothers. I am sure he was the same. My thoughts and prayers are with Margy and her family. [email protected]

We met Don in 1994, and have been competitors in Tans and Dutch and some years English Spots ever since. Don was generous with his rabbits (if you needed 1 he'd bring you several), always fun and always a good sport. He was 100% ARBA and supported their system of registering and granding rabbits and always supported the youth on all levels with their rabbit endeavors. American Rabbit Breeders Assn. Judge #361, Don Burchfield, you will be sorely missed!

Our condolences to the Burchfield family. Remembering how dedicated Don was at the rabbit shows. He was an inspiration to the youth and worked hard to promote interest in showing rabbits. His witty personality and sence of humor will be missed.

May God bless the family of Don Burchfield. I was a classmate of Don's at Rockwood High School and have fond memories of him. He was a wonderful guy.

We all know how much Don loved his grand-kids and how proud of them he was, but we wonder if Don knew, REALLY KNEW, just how much he was loved by all those “adopted” grand-kids that followed him around at every rabbit show. Don encouraged not only a more responsible showmanship in the many young people who knew him, but he set forth challenges of an advanced program of scholastic excellence and the idea that EVERYONE could achieve any goal they might define. The past 17 years have been a joy knowing and appreciating Don, and he will be sorely missed. We pray God’s peace and comfort for his family, and all those others who also loved and will miss him.

We've known Don since 1992. He is one of the finest men we have ever known.
Although we haven't been in touch with him lately, we will still feel an emptiness in our heart knowing that he is gone.
Our prayers and sympathies are with the Burchfield family.

I met Don Burchfield when we moved to Rockwood in 1948 and we were friends in high school. He was a wonderful person. My sister Shelia Long Cooner and he would exchange tidbits about Rockwood. Don and I had a wonderful telephone conversation a few years ago. May the grace and peace of God be with you at this time.

Words seem so inadequate when we try to extend a hand to help the Burchfield family at this time.Yet we want you to know Don was loved by so many, his smile will be remembered for a long time. We all have a special place in our hearts for him. He has taken that final journey and now is in the arms of our Lord, who was waiting with a "Welcome Home Good and Faithful Servant" He will live on in our memories and in our hearts.Just know you are not walking through this alone. You are loved by us all. Don, you were my best friend in rabbits for 14 years. You touched the life of everyone and anyone who ever met you in such a positive and loving way. I promised you on Saturday that the ZMO line would go on, and so it shall be. I hope you and (my) Bill are having the good old times like we used to before both of you went to the Great Rabbit Show Above. The Rabbit World will never be the same without you. May you find everlasting peace and love and be with us in spirit. We will all miss you so much. Leslie Cobb

Death is an inevitable part of life yet it is difficult to face. Don was a unique person in life but especially in the rabbit community. Know that this group's love for him will grow and he will be remembered by rabbit enthusiasts across the nation. We reflect on the happy years spent with Don at shows, club meetings, various gatherings and already are sharing experiences with fond memories. His rabbit friends offer support at this time of loss. The healing process begins.
