James S. Gladney

James Spencer Gladney, age 96, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., formerly of Florence, Ala., passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at Scott Healthcare after an extended illness. He was a native of Lauderdale County, Ala., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired crane operator for Union Carbide, and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Florence, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 1 p.m. Phil Cooper will be officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with military honors given at the graveside. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

Survivors are wife, Sallie Springer Gladney, Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; three daughters, Joyce Burke and husband, Bill, Glasgow, Ky., Theresa Dickey and husband, Bill, St. Louis, Mo., and Elizabeth Bryan and husband, Larry, Florence, Ala.; one brother, Paul Gladney, Nobelsville, Ind.; one sister, Margaret Sullephen, Hamilton, Ala.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
