Billy Cornett, age 71, of Muscle Shoals, died peacefully on the evening of May 18, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital. He was the son of the late Harry Wilmer Cornett and Grace Onelia McInvale.

Billy attended Sheffield High School and attained a degree from Shoals Community College. Billy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Greenwich Bay. He was a master electrician and a 51-year member of the IBEW Local No. 558. Billy was a devoted husband and father who expressed his love in word and deed. He loved and served the Lord and is at rest in his grace. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd Critchlow, Malcolm Critchlow, Homer Cornett, and sister, Dorothy Phegley.
He leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Agee Cornett; and daughter, Sherry Cornett, of Atlanta; brother, Archie Cornett and wife, Deanna, of Foley; sisters, Doris Lee, of Brunswick, Ga., Bobbie Caudill and late husband, Billy, of Sheffield, Carolyn Norris and husband, Don, of Huntsville; brothers-in-law, Bobby Agee and wife, Faye Hamilton, of Tuscumbia, Ronnie Agee and wife, Mary Ann Campbell, of Tuscumbia; sisters-in-law, Jewel Offord, of Muscle Shoals, Lois Murphree and late husband, Morris, of Tuscumbia, and Joyce Rose and husband, Ronnie, of Muscle Shoals; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, with his funeral service following in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Dave Seymore and Brother Jeff Fleming will officiate. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Billy's nephews, Shea Caudill, Butch Cornett, Mike Agee, Arthur Wayne Chandler, Keith Rose and Kevin Rose.
