Robert I. Letherer

Robert Inman Letherer, a resident of Florence, Ala., passed away on Oct. the 15th, age 70. He was being evaluated for heart pump (ventricular assist device) surgery at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital when he developed pneumonia.
Bob was preceded in death by father, Albert Walter Inman; mother, Gladys Adele Inman, (Durling); and sister, Ruth Sellers. He is survived by Marilyn Kubicek, of Florence, Ala.; brothers, Paul Inman, of Parma, Mich., and Von Letherer, of Diamond Bar, Ca. Also surviving are sons, Todd Letherer, of Marietta, Ga., Sam Letherer, of Nashville, Tenn.; and daughters, Tammy Letherer, of Chicago, Ill. and Stephanie Coutts, of Morrison, Colo.; five grandchildren also survive.
Bob was a past resident of Holland, Mich. and worked in IT for John Thomas Batts in Zeeland, Mich. in the 1970s. He was most recently employed by Murray Ohio Manufacturing in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. and Current Greeting Cards in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Bob retired to Florence, Ala. where he enjoyed boating and fishing. He was a member of Grace Bible Church of the Shoals where he encouraged many with his unwillingness to let his physical condition keep him from Sunday services. He enjoyed cooking and working on jigsaw puzzles. Bob loved to help those less fortunate and spent time at the local soup kitchen serving the homeless. The family requests that donations made in his honor go to his favorite charity, The Smile Train, smiletrain.org, which provides reconstructive surgery to children with cleft lips and palates.
