Mrs. Teresa Kaye (Gargis) Black, 61, of Ford City, Ala., died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her residence.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

She was born March 5, 1952, in Colbert County, Ala. and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church.

God welcomed another very special woman to walk the golden streets of Heaven. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend joined the angels in the Heavenly home; a great reward achieved in so little time. Pain is made bearable with happy memories that will last forever. Teresa (also known as "Tiny" by those that loved her) left an everlasting love in our hearts. We find comfort that your spirit is with us in the sound of your voice and the flash of your smile, forever etched in our heart and soul. Knowing the next hand we touch when our trumpet sounds is yours, makes our Heavenly reward richer. Embracing a future without physically here is heartbreaking, but we will honor you in living life as you did: in celebration, an altruistic regard for others and infinite optimism. Thank you for improving the lives around you.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Gargis.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her husband of 42 years, Kerry T. Black, Ford City, Ala.; son, Mitch Black, Ford City, Ala.; daughter, Mitzi Ladner, Sheffield, Ala.; mother, Hazel Gargis, Ford City, Ala.; brother, Troy Gargis, Ford City, Ala.; granddaughter, Koral Black, Ford City; grandsons, Beau Black, Ford City, Ala., Brock Black, Ford City, Ala., Miles Ladner, Sheffield, Ala., Ridge Ladner, Sheffield, Ala.; special friends, Ronnie Gargis and Trudy Craft-Austin, who gave their time and love unconditionally.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Sandra Holland, Stephanie Davis, Amy Johnson, Leighton Pharmacy and Schofield Medical Suppy for their special care.

A special thank you for all the prayers, flowers, support, calls, food, and, most of all, the love shown during her 15 months of illness. Teresa was so blessed to have you all as part of her extended family. Teresa and her family were encouraged by the love shown for her.
