Hance Richardson, of Loretto, departed this life on April 29, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Edna Richardson; and by his wife and lifelong companion, Dean Richardson, in September 2012. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Mike and Mary Richardson, of Leoma, Chuck and Sara Richardson, of Murfreesboro, and Donnie and Karen Benefield, of Greenhill. He is survived by three grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.
Hance was born in Rogersville, Ala. in 1925 and was raised in Leoma. He experienced the great depression. And, like his wife Dean, he was frugal, honest and valued simple things. Hance was a member of the Leoma Church of Christ. Through his career, he was employed with Malone Freight Lines, the Tennessee Valley Authority and was retired from Murray Ohio as a supervisor.
Hance modestly considered himself to be a part of the "greatest generation". He served in combat in World War II. As a young infantry soldier, he traveled to north Africa, through Italy, France, and to the Rhine river where he looked into Germany. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Hance was with Dean as her health declined the last three years of her life. He assisted her through those difficult times. He always did his duty for his family and his friends and his country. Hance and Dean's headstone reads "Together Forever". Now they are.
