Elois "Lois" Lanford Black, age 87, departed her earthly life for her Heavenly home on Friday, May 17, 2013.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Park Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member for 55 years. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence, with Larry Kilpatrick officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Claud R. Black; parents, CE and Lula Elma Lanford; brothers, Otis, Elbert, Gene and Walker Lanford; and infant sister, Mae Lanford.
Survivors include sons, Robert (Lea) Black, of Athens, Pete (Peggy) Black, of Tuscumbia, and daughters, Carolyn (Ronald) Thrasher, of Muscle Shoals, Linda (Wayne) Austin, of Madison.
Mrs. Black had nine grandchildren: Chris (Brandy) Black, Cindy Griffith, Darrell Thrasher, Becky (Ashley) Johnson, Randy (Misty) Thrasher, Brent Black, Craig (Monica) Black, Steve (Lexie) Austin and Kristi Austin. She also had 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Black, Darrell Thrasher, Randy Thrasher, Craig Black, Brent Black, Steve Austin, Ashley Johnson, and great grandsons, Garrett Johnson and Avery Thrasher.
Born in Tuscumbia, she was a lifelong resident of Colbert County and was retired from Muscle Shoals Technical School as cafeteria manager. She loved gardening, quilting, crocheting and her cats.
