Lynda L. Knox

Lynda Lee (Jones) Knox, of Gardendale, Ala., passed away on Aug. 23, 2013, at the age of 52 after a courageous two year battle against breast cancer. Lynda is survived by her husband, Bryan Knox; and stepdaughter, Lindsay. Lynda was the beloved daughter of Turner and Martha Jones, of Florence, Ala. She is survived by her sisters, Lisa (Mike) Heron and Lori Jones; nephews, Bentley, Turner and Houston Herron; and a niece, Ann Harper Herron, all of Birmingham, Ala., as well as numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Smithie and Ophelia Irons, of Florence, Ala., and Clarence and Lula Jones, of Florence, Ala. Lynda was affectionately known as "Lynda Lee" or "Lulu" and had a deep love for her family and all of God's creation and nature. Lynda was especially fond of her beautiful Siamese cat, "Boo Boo Kitty" and she loved to tell the story of how God brought them together. Lynda was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and proudly served as President of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Lynda served many years in the banking and insurance industry, but some of her most diligent and rewarding work was her years as a volunteer at the Alabama Wildlife Rescue Service.

Lynda was beautiful both inside and out, and the beauty radiated because of the love she had for her Savior. She loved to tell how "sweet" Jesus was and recite how he saved her and blessed her in so many ways. She will truly be missed by her family at Gardendale First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held today between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at the The New Gardendale Funeral Home, with internment in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m. in Florence, Ala. The New Gardendale Funeral Home is directing.
