DAVID ACREE Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Feb. 17, 2013.
ACREE, David Dean, went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2013 at Oklahoma City, Okla. David was predeceased by his grandparents, Kiddo and Charlie Durham and Christine and Walter M. Acree Sr., formerly of Farnham, Va. He is survived by his parents, Jackie and Walter M. "Monty" Acree Jr.; his daughter, Rene Cooper; and his siblings, Skip (his wife, Paula), Richard Acree, Jo Moore (her husband, Roger); nieces, Jaclyn Acree and Mirka and Ana Moore. David was born in Richmond, Va., and enjoyed growing up near the sea. He loved his family and lived near them. He was a long-time Florida resident, enjoying the abundance of seafood. A chef in his own right, he loved to prepare gourmet meals for all, especially the staff of Northwest Florida Daily News, the paper for which he worked 20 years. He was given two of his most desired wishes in December, first, his family was able to gather for a wonderful Christmas complete with country ham, turkey, love, presents, and a blanketing snowfall. Second, his beloved Redskins made it to the playoffs by wiping up the field with Dallas. David expressed his joy and confidence in his Savior, Jesus Christ. A farewell celebration for friends and family will be held in Pt. Washington, Fla. at the Pt. Washington Methodist Church on Sunday, March 17, at 2:30 p.m.

I would like to express my sympathy to Dave's family. I worked at the newspaper with him and always enjoyed his humor. His friends from the Mail Room will always miss him.

May God bless David, and the Acree Family. David was a wonderful person who found the good in everyone. While we can only offer our condolences to the family, we will also try to live like David...enjoying our families, friends and the world around us. Walt, Jackie, Jo, Richard, Skip, and the entire Acree Family; you are in our thoughts and prayers.
