ALEXANDER, Mrs. Dorothy Fant, of Richmond, departed this life October 4, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Corinthian Fant; her husband, Herman Alexander Sr.; daughter, Augusta Newsome; two brothers and two sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Grant, Herman Alexander Jr. (Brenda) and Jacqueline Rivers (Thomas Sr.); five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Friday (tonight) from 6 to 7 p.m. Remains will lie in state Saturday, 12 noon, at 31st Street Baptist Church, 823 N. 31st St., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Dr. Morris G. Henderson, pastor, officiating. Rev. Frederick Christian, eulogist. Burial Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends kindly assemble at the funeral home Saturday at 12 noon.
