Myrtle Lucile Gibson Corker

CORKER, Mrs. Myrtle Lucile Gibson, 88, of Glen Allen, Va., died April 7, 2011 at the home she and her late husband Jesse William Corker Sr. built together. She was born October 16, 1922 in Caroline County, Va. to the late James Cleveland Gibson and the late Jeanette Burruss Gibson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers and infant son, Stuart Wayne Corker. She was a member of Glen Allen Baptist Church and retired from Henrico County School System, having worked in the library, clinic and lunchroom at Glen Allen Elementary. Surviving are daughter, Phyllis Corker Palmore and husband, Tom, of Kenbridge, Va.; sons, Jesse W. Corker Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Mineral, Va. and Thomas C. Corker and wife, Ellen, of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren, Wendy Palmore Berry of Kenbridge, Kevin Corker and wife, Nikki, of Midlothian, Va. and Jonathan Palmore and wife, Jolene, of Glen Allen; great-grandchildren, John William Berry Jr., Frances Berry, Morgan Corker, Joseph Palmore and Jackson Palmore; stepgreat-grandchildren, Brianna Strothman, Kali Gaylord and Monica Jones; sister, Gladys Gibson Powell of Hanover, Va., and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (today) at Blileys - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to process to the cemetery.
