My family and I spent many wonderful summers with Aunt Thelma and Uncle Andy on the Potomac River. She was truly an inspiration to me in the kitchen! It was amazing to me as a young child to watch my Grandmother (Thelma Kirby) and Aunt Thelma cook. I remember picking Aunt Thelma up to spend Thanksgiving with my family and her feeding my new husband tomato soup that she made from the tomatoes in her own garden. She endeared herself to all that were blessed to meet her. Thank you God for your gift to us!

Thelma will be greatly missed by everyone at Messiah Lutheran School. She was always stopping by to say hello. She was a dear lady who constantly thought of others.

I knew Thelma through a PACE exercise class that we attended at Sheltering Arms Hospital. Thelma was a sweet person and loved to share her cooking with you and bring many things to you. She will be missed by all. I know she will be in heaven with the angels and they will now be watching over her. I am glad that she got to meet my husband, Joe, as she kept telling me that she wanted to and after she moved to the Plaza, that request of hers became to a reality.

Thelma was a special friend of mine at Messiah Lutheran Church. We were Sunday School teachers and members of the choir. We were from Baltimore, MD, and we shared many stories of our hometown. She had a pleasant smile, and she made you feel at home. I know she is with her Lord whom she loved very much. My prayers are with her family and church family.

Thelma was my Sunday school teacher and always a part of my church life growing up at Messiah Lutheran. She was a loving and faithful presence there, especially to us kids in the congregation. My prayers are with her family and the church family at Messiah. God bless.
