Allen Edward JONES Sr.

JONES, Allen Edward Sr., 65, of Montpelier, Virginia, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Retreat Hospital. He was born January 7, 1944 in Virginia, the son of the late Benjamin Harvey Jones and Cassie Gertrude Thomas Jones. Mr. Jones was a retired foreman from RF&P Railroad and a Deacon at Hopeful Baptist Church in Montpelier, Va. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jones; two sons, Timothy Jones and his fianc‚e, Tammy, and Allen "Bubba" Jones Jr. and wife, Tonya Jones; two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Jeff Green, and Peggy and John Justice; and two sisters and their husbands, Carolyn and Marion Bartlett, and Brenda and John Kirby. He leaves behind a sister-in-law, Lorraine Jones, who was married to his recently deceased brother, James Jones. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Stephen Vesely, Justin Green, Alexandra Green, Destiny Jones and Hannah Justice; and his beloved four-legged grandbaby, Rex. The viewing for family and friends is scheduled at Nelsen Funeral Home - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va., on Sunday, November 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services, officiated by Dr. Bruce Cole, will be held at Hopeful Baptist Church in Montpelier on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hopeful Baptist Church, 14340 Hopeful Church Road, Montpelier, Va. 23192.
