ALKIRE, Ann VanDoren, passed away on March 20, 2011 at the age of 92. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward L. Alkire; devoted mother of Maury Alkire, Arden Thompson and the late Kenneth Alkire; loving grandmother of Matthew Alkire, Andrea Alkire, Ryan Alkire, Erin Alkire, Carrie Thompson, Christopher Thompson and Kathleen Thompson; dear great-grandmother of Jacob Alkire, Grace Alkire, Sean Thompson and Brett Thompson. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at the Atlee Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Va.
