GILES - Rev. Dr. B. S. A Godly Pastor, Husband, Father, and Friend Remembered. The late Rev. Dr. Bernard Sylvester Giles was called home from labor to reward four years ago today. He was the pastor of the First Union Baptist Church of Mechanisville for over 50 years and was respected throughout Hanover Co. and the Greater Richmond Metropolitian area as a Godly man. He was man of complete commitment, to him religion was not just something preached from the pulpit on Sunday morning it was the reality of day to day living and we take time to remember this honorable and respected pastor. Rev. Giles sat a standard that only a few attempt to meet. He exemplified the traits of a Godly man as set forth in the Gospel Text. He is solely missed and loved and admired. His legacy will live on in the hearts of many because the memory of a well spent life is eternal.
