Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Jul. 7, 2010.
JONES, Bertha Lunsford, 88, of Crewe, Virginia, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully July 5, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of the late Wiley C. Jones. She is the mother of Douglas W. Jones and Virginia "Ginger" Walker and son-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Walker, all of Crewe. She has two adored granddaughters, Lisa Corinne Jones of Boston and Laura Marie Walker of Crewe; and also survived by her beloved sister, Dorothy Lunsford Rice. She was predeceased by her parents, Ephfrom and Sara Swicegood Lunsford; and brothers, Virgil, Mark, Glen, Paul and Carl Lunsford; and sisters, Pansy Coates, Clara Lunsford, Verne Flynn and Elsie Coates; and half-sisters and brother, Mamie Cassada and Clayton Lunsford and Carrie Senger. She has a host of nieces and nephews. She is a devout Christian and a member of Belfast Baptist Church. Besides her granddaughters, she loved hosting Easter and New Year's Eve family celebrations, April Fools' jokes, and dressing for Halloween. The family would like to thank hospice, and the special nurses and aides for their compassion and sensitivity during her stay at Britthaven in Keysville. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Belfast Baptist Church, 2169 Bible Road, Crewe, Va. 23930. Burial will follow in the family cemetery behind the church. The family will receive food and family visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2010 at Belfast Baptist Church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Belfast Baptist Church.

Butch and Ginger, so sorry to hear of your loss. As Bertha said to me about my Mom at her funeral "she's just having a fun time running around heaven seeing every body she's missed for so long".
