Cecil Epps Obituary

EPPS, Cecil Raines, 79, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. Born September 6, 1930 in Surry County, he was the son of the late William E. and Buelah Britt Epps. Cecil served his country during the Korean Conflict as a PFC in the U.S. Army. He was self-employed as a farm equipment mechanic for 40 years and also worked at Georgia Pacific and Spencer Brothers. Mr. Epps is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bailey Epps; his son, Kenneth Cecil Epps and his wife, Helen; a sister, Helen Gwaltney; and his grandson, Kenneth Matthews Epps. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rev. William B. Epps and Roland E. Epps; and a sister, Doris E. Bailey. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Purviance Chapel, J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, with Rev. James Kerr officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Crater Community Hospice, Inc., 3916 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg, Va. 23804.
