Christine Kidwell Obituary

KIDWELL, Christine Newcomb, age 91, of Randolph, Va., passed away on November 17, 2009. She was the widow of Charles Russell Kidwell. She is survived by a brother, J.E. Newcomb Jr. and his wife, Elaine, of Randolph, Va.; two nephews, Retired Captain James H. "Hal" Hardaway USN of Alexandria, Va. and Jamie Newcomb and wife, Kay, of Randolph, Va.; a niece, Cathy Jo N. Palmer and husband, David, of Randolph, Va.; a great-nephew, Jay Newcomb of Randolph, Va.; and a great-niece, Katie Beth Newcomb of Randolph, Va. She was predeceased by her parents, James Edward and Alma Newcomb; and sisters, Mattie Newcomb Huff and Margaret Newcomb Hardaway. She graduated from Madison Teacher's College and taught school at Herndon, Va., Wylliesburg Elementary School, Fort Hill Academy in Clover, Va. and Patrick Henry Academy in Charlotte Court House, Va. She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church, where she served as the Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Hebron United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hebron United Methodist Church's general fund or the Bacon District Fire Dept. Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
