Clyde Evely Obituary

EVELY, Colonel Clyde P. Sr., USAF Ret., passed away Wednesday evening April 7, 2010. Passing on before him were his wife, Rachel B. Evely; and his daughter, Diane E. Evely. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Joyce Costner of Richmond, Va.; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Clyde P. Evely Jr. of Catawba, Va.; and his beloved granddaughter, Tristy Evely of Cary, N.C. Clyde was a dedicated officer in the Air Force for over 30 years and a pilot of some renown, a faithful member of his church wherever he lived, and a generous provider for his family and those in need. We thank God for his life. The family will receive friends at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on Saturday, April 10, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. Flowers maybe sent to J.T. Morris Funeral Home or a memorial donation may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3200 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, N.C. 27604. MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF COL. CLYDE P. HE WAS AN OUTSTANDING MAN AND AIR FORCE OFFICER AND I AM PROUD TO HAVE SERVED WITH HIM. I ALSO HAD THE PLEASURE OF FLYING WITH COL. CLYDE DURING MY POSTING AT MINOT AIR FORCE BASE,NORTH DAKOTA. HE WAS THE BEST PILOT THERE AND WAS IN CHARGE OF OUR STANDBOARD GROUP. HE KEPT ALL OF US PROFICIENT AND WALKING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. I ALSO HAD THE PLEASURE OF HAVING LUNCH WITH HIM IN CARY,NC SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND RE-HASHING OLD WAR STORIES. HE WILL BE MISSED, BUT HE HAS EARNED HIS PLACE IN GOD'S HEAVENLY KINGDOM. MAY GOD BLESS COL. CLYDE.
