Daphine Edward Obituary

EDWARD, Daphine Marie Harris, 82, of Windsor, Va., beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, left us to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. She was born in the old Roanoke Rapids Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. on February 22, 1927. She lived in Greensville County and the town of Emporia for many years before moving to Windsor, Va. with her husband, Nelson A. "Partner" Edwards and their three children. Leaving to cherish her memory are her sons, Ronald Edwards, Lawrence Wayne Edwards and his wife, Mary; her daughter, Carolyn E. Bailey and her husband, Ray; eight grandchildren, Tommy, Chris, Jon, Elizabeth, Steven, Jennifer, Justin and Jason; and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard E. Harris Sr., Ervin M. Harris Sr. and Herman M. Harris; sisters, E. Dean Riggan and Annie F. Harris. Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 16489 Drybread Road, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Owen Funeral Home, 303 South Halifax Road in Jarratt, Va.
