David Powell

POWELL, David Warren, age 69, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcenter. He was the son of William Edward Powell and Clytie Powell Parrish. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 48 years, Barbara Estes Powell, and his two daughters, Barbara Annette and Rebekah Grey Powell. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Warren, Charles and Jackson; and his sister, Virgie. His surviving siblings include, Myrtle House, Marian Hood and Clyde Powell. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, and many beloved pets of all kinds. Mr. Powell was a retired Patrolman with the Town of South Hill Police Department and a Charter Member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #51. He was also a longtime member of the South Hill Volunteer Fire Department, and was the co-owner of Debbie's Drive In for the past 25 years. He was also a member of Antioch United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Herbert L.
