Dorothy Backherms Obituary

BACKHERMS, Dorothy D., 83, died May 6, 2009. A retired Licensed Practical Nurse, she served on the Virginia State Board of Nursing from 1982-1987. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Anthony. She is survived by her devoted and adored husband, Ted; her adoring children, Ted and Barbara; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Austin of Florida, and Virginia Tisdale of Ohio; several nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members and friends who will miss her. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 12 Noon. on Tuesday May 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Richmond. Please reassemble immediately following the service at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Avenue, Goochland, for burial.

I had the pleasure of serving on the Virginia Board of Nursing with Dorothy for two years and worked with her for another year when I went to work for the Board in 1981. I am saddened to learn of her passing and send sincere sympathy to the family.
