GOODWIN, Edith Louise Rhea, born July 1, 1924, the daughter of Maude Tolley and Harry Lee Rhea in Suffolk, Va., died Wednesday, June 2, 2010. She was the widow of T. Douglas Goodwin, marrying "the boy next door" when they grew up in Richmond's Ginter Park neighborhood. She is survived by her three children, Suzanne Goodwin Morris (Robbie) of Richmond, Thomas Douglas Goodwin of Lexington, Va. and William Chapman Goodwin (Denise) of Staunton, Va.; five grandchildren, Amanda Roberts (Mark), Whit Morris (Katie), Ben, Noah (Valerie) and Josh Goodwin; three great-grandchildren, Tommy, Lily and Charlotte Roberts; brother, Robert Lee Rhea (Nancy) of Staunton, Va.; many nieces and nephews, especially her devoted niece, Joyce Rhea Tiller (Cliff) of Richmond; one last family member not to be left out, her beloved cocker spaniel, Misty. Mrs. Goodwin was a communicant of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Richmond. She was a lifelong horticulturist, being a longtime member of the Windsor Farms Garden Club, as well as the Tuckahoe Woman's Club. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Bon Secours Hospice Program, 5875 Bremo Rd., Suite 710, Richmond, Va. 23226.
