GARNETT, Edward Clark Jr., age 89, of Farmville, died Saturday, May 1, 2010. He was born on September 12, 1920, the son of the late Edward Clark Garnett Sr. and Martha Blanton Garnett. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Garnett Miller and Martha Garnett Smith. He is survived by his wife, Helen Vernon Garnett; a son, David Edward Garnett and wife, Jane, of Roanoke; a daughter, Sandra Garnett Ellington and husband, Don, of Farmville; a brother, Wilson Blanton Garnett of Midlothian; five grandchildren, Martha Kent McMakin, Diana McMakin Dodson, Jason D. Garnett, Laura Ranzer, Scott J. Garnett; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Garnett Dodson, Jessica Gibson Dodson and Alexander Austin Ranzer. The family received friends at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at Farmville Presbyterian Church, with interment in Westview Cemetery, Farmville. Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home is in charge arrangements.
