LECHOWICZ, Eleanore Marie Zendarski, age 93, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away peacefully on May 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Victor T. Lechowicz. She is survived by her three cherished daughters and sons-in-law, Helen (Marty) Blough of Mechanicsville, Bobbie (Bob) Freitag of Pittsford, N.Y. and Margie Lechowicz (Rick Lazzari) of Aurora, Illinois. She is also survived by her four loving grandchildren, Kristina and Jeffrey Blough, Gregory and Emily Freitag; her sister, Anne Barone of Cheswick, Pa.; and her brother, Fred Zendarski of Lawrenceville, Ga.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Eleanore was an active member of St. Ann's Church in Ashland, the Catholic Daughters of America, Suburban General Hospital Women's Auxiliary, the Polish Arts League of Pittsburgh, the Polish American Society of Virginia, the VFW Auxiliary in Mechanicsville, and she was an honorary initiate of Chi Omega sorority. Eleanore's life and faith will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 26, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Pittsburgh, with interment at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery in Pittsburgh. A memorial service will be held at St. Ann's Church at a later date. The family requests that donations in Eleanore's memory be made to St. Ann's Church Haiti Fund, the Women's Memorial Foundation in Washington, D.C., or a charity of choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of Memorial Regional Medical Center and Bon Secours Hospice for their compassion and care.
