Enos WHITLEY Jr.

WHITLEY, Enos A. Jr.,

90, went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Enos A. Whitley Sr.; his mother, Hazel Whitley; his twin sisters, Lula and Agnes Whitley; and his brother, Joseph B. Whitley. Retired from a 45-year career with the Federal Reserve, he enjoyed his family and set a Christ-like example for all who knew and loved him. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church for many years and he also regularly attended St. John's Episcopal Church in Richmond. From 1941 to 1945, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Newfoundland. He is survived by his three caregivers, his nephew, John Whitley (Jean); and two nieces, Carolyn McCrocklin (Bob) and Linda Mercer (Mike). He is also survived by his great-niece, Dr. Morgan McCrocklin Cheatham (Scott); and three great-nephews, Brian McCrocklin, Ben Mercer and Chris Mercer. A family graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Walters, Virginia, officiated by Pastor John Hershman, senior pastor, West End Assembly of God. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Richmond Friends of the Homeless, a community mission's outreach that Enos supported for many years. Uncle Enos was loved much and will be missed greatly by his family.
