ROBERTS, Errol Lester, 81, of Ashland, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 26, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Sarah Roberts; and five brothers. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy F. Roberts; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda Maupin (Doug), Patricia Wood (Willie) and Tanya Shearin (Vance); four grand-children, Bradley, Lydia, Sarah and Josiah; one great-granddaughter, Abigail; a brother, James Roberts; and his faithful companion, Wy-Wy. A veteran, he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. Following the war, he became an accountant working 25 years for Sealtest/Kraft, Inc. During his lifetime, he was an active member of several Southern Baptist churches, serving as a deacon at East Highland Park Baptist, Cool Spring Baptist and Hillcrest Baptist churches. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, Mechanicsville, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. A private graveside service will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
