Fred NEWMAN

NEWMAN, Fred, 80, of Varina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 7, 2009. Born in Lancashire, England, he is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Alice; his children, Christopher Newman of Varina, Sandra Prichard (Mark), of Augusta, Ga., and Valerie McCartan (Jack), of Newark, Del.; and four grandchildren. Mr. Newman retired from Southern Gravure Services in 1995. He was an avid cricketer and golfer, but spending time with family and sharing in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren brought him the most joy. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 27, at 5 p.m., at the Cremation Society of Virginia, 1927 Westmoreland St., Richmond. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association in Va., P.O.
