Gerald Trice Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Apr. 29, 2010.
TRICE, Gerald F., 63, died suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2010 in his home. He was preceded in death by his son, Sam, whom he missed dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; beloved daughter, Julia Trice; and grandson, G. Trice, who brought him new delight. Jerry was quiet, self-effacing and steadfast. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968 and graduated from Penn State University. His most cherished titles after husband, father and grandfather, were "Honor Man" in the U.S. Navy, bestowed by his peers, and Chief Systems Operator for Virginia Power Company, commonly known as the "second best job in the company." A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 43rd Street and Forest Hill Avenue, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 1. The family invites friends for refreshments at their home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerry's memory to the Forest Hill Rescue Squad or a charity of your choice.

Mary & Julia, With sadness we read of Gerry's death. We will be thinking of both of you in the days and nights ahead. May the passing of time ease the pain. We would be honored if you would call on us for anything you may need. Fond Regards, Steve & Kathy Brincefield

Dear Mary & Julia,

Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss. Visits to your house were always warm and enjoyable and I think of them often. I'm sure that was due, in no small part, to the love you shared.

My condolences,
Paul Barrett
