Harvey J. MAST

MAST, Harvey J., passed on to his eternal reward in his home in Amelia, Va. on November 13, 2009 at the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 25 days. Harvey was born to Joseph and Mary (Smucker) Mast on May 21, 1919 in Plain City, Ohio. When he was young his family moved to Newport News, Va., then later to Deep Creek, Va., where in May of 1938 he married Sadie Stutzman. In March of 1955 Harvey moved his family to Amelia, Va. Surviving are his wife, Sadie, and 14 of his 15 children, Jean Hooley, Miriam Mast, Marie Mast, Vernon Mast, Carol Mast, Esther Miller, all of Amelia, Joseph Mast, Judith Weaver, Stephen Mast, Naomi Swartzentruber, all of Lunenburg, Fern Weaver of Rutherfordton, N.C., James Mast and Marvin Mast of Chewelah, Wash., and Roy Mast of Chih, Mexico. Also surviving are one sister, Frances Weaver; 85 grandchildren; 222 great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Leona Mast; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters. He was a member of Pilgrim Mennonite Church. His life was dedicated to serving Christ and the church of which he had been a faithful leader since 1946.
