I was shocked to see the Bennett Funeral Home TV spot with Hilda's picture. We grew up together (also went to school together)and played a mean game of "Jacks" as children. I'm sorry to hear she left us so young.

On behalf of the Taylor family I would like to send my deepest condolences and prayers to Hilda's family. Hilda was a huge part of my childhood. I cheered for Hilda back in the Tuckahoe days at the beginning of this beautiful cheer dynasty. She was truly a big part of my childhood and she assisted in shaping me into the ambitious young lady that I am today. She also created a wonderful environment for my mother (who coached) and myself to begin our strong bond which has continued to this day. Hilda will truly be missed by the cheer community for she was a woman way ahead of her time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Hilda's family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. I will never forget the first day that I met Hilda and she has changed my life forever. She had a booth set up at the Hanover Tomato Festival and kindly spoke to my daughter and I about all star cheering- being a former cheerleader I was interested but she really sparked an interest in my 5 year old daughter. She got us...and my daughter started cheering for UCC!! We loved it and still do. 9 years later my daughter is still cheering and loves it. She would cheer 24/7. Thank you Hilda for the start, your dedication to cheering has inspired so many. I know God will have you coaching his team of angels.
Thanks for your hard work and Kelsie's facials- she's still got it! You will be missed but never forgotten!

I wanted to thank you with all my heart for seeing my potential and having the faith me to coach your girls first at UCC then at Cheer Factory. Being able to learn from you, by your side, was a unique privilege and a true honor. Every time one of my teams is successful, it is because of you. Every time I bring out the best in my team, it is because you brought out the best in me by always pushing me to be better. Even as a mere child of 8 competing against your mighty Tuckahoe, you impacted my life and inspired me to be a better cheerleader. I was able to be a part of some of your most special moments, the call you made from your hospital bed to open Cheer Factory, being honored as the originator of allstar cheerleading by the NACCC, American Cheerleader and USASF, and taking your very first team to worlds. I will cherish them always, along with many, many others. Your legacy will live on forever through the countless cheerleaders you inspired to continue on in the cheerleading industry. Your vision, that reshaped cheerleading as a whole, has changed and will continue to change the lives of millions of athletes forever. Seldom does someone come along who is able to reshape the world, but you did! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life. I love you, miss you, and will never forget you.

Hilda touched so many lives including mine. After cheering with her through tuckahoe, baby Q, Rockers, and USA, I had only the utmost respect for her. I always thought I would coach under her, and that my kids would be able to experience her amazing coaching ability, but I suppose that will have to wait till we reach heaven. Hilda, you were loved by every one and will truely be missed! LOVE YOU!!

March 23, 2011

Hilda is indeed a legend and I am so sorry to hear of her loss. She was my first and only cheerleading coach. I have countless wonderful memories of her guidance and direction as a cheer coach. Nothing can beat her honesty:-) Her refusal to settle for less than your best, dedication to excellence in performance and absolute unwaivering insistence that we all execute perfect technique: Straight tight arms; pointed toe touches with legs going up not chest going down; donut fists to the side not forward, pep in the step, bounce to the next position, do it until you get it right, smile ALL THE TIME....With Hilda, cheerleading is definitely a sport. It's been over 15 years since I cheered for Hilda, I have graduated college, gotten married, and have my own little girl. If she ever cheers, my expectations of her coach, her team, and her performance will be set against the high bar that Hilda set for me and my teammates: super big shoes to fill! The cheer world has lost a giant. My condolences to her family and friends and current cheer nation-Clair (Carroll) Koroma (MD)

multi generational cheer family. thats us!!! WE love hilda and will miss her!!! I think back and Hilda was a mentor in my life for almost 4 decades, wow. I could not have asked for better!!! She taught us: Hard work, perservation, dedication, loyalty, strength, structure, reward, courage, confidence, ironing (old days) facials (LOL) and NOT to do the splits in competition on newly waxed wood floor with saddle shoes (old school)and if you do that and it hurts and judges are looking, smile like heck; and she was ALWAYS shooting for the stars!!! I am proud to have had her in my life and my children's for 38 years total!!! There was so much to get to know about her if you took the time, there was an underlying treasure just waiting to be seen! She basically taught me to be strong but then as I got older; I saw another side of her that I cherished even more! Such an awesome person! We will all miss Hilda~~ Molly McCaffrey-Adams, Meagan and Madelyn Adams

Coach Trace from The University of Western Ontario: Hilda first met us Nashville (WCA) in 1992 and like so many cheer relationships, we met and re connected dozens of times over the past 19 years. I would always say to our teams that Hilda had the sharpest eyes for detail and could have an entire routine dissected and improvements listed after just one run. A heck of a fine coach and I am proud to say - friend and associate.
Her passing reminds us of the briefness of our days but the beauty of our shared spirit.

Thoughts and Prayers to the entire family. Hilda was one of a kind and will definately be missed. She pushed her teams to be better than they believed they could be. She had and eye for perfection and did not accept anything less. Her words were sometime harsh but always filled with many words of encouragement once you met your goal. An unbelievable coach has been lost too soon.

This is truly hard news to hear! I have the best memories from cheering for you. Those were some of the best times and bus trips ever! I can still hear you yelling "Get in your room" The cheering world has lost a huge influence and coach! We are all better for having known you and learned from you. Everyone who cheered for you knew they were loved and cared for! Thank you for all you did for all of us! You will be greatly missed but NEVER forgotten!

March 22, 2011

The Cheerleading World has lost a great person, I cheered under Hilda when she was with Tuckahoe Youth Football, and I also cheered on the Q-94 Rockers the first two years. What GREAT times we all had as a squad. I sit here now thinking about the many many many practices that I attended, the friends that were made and the family-like attitude Hilda always had with each and everyone of us that were part of her squads. Hilda, you will be missed, but always remembered. "Cheer Hard"

To Hilda's family, you are all in my prayers. May GOD bless each and everyone of you in your healing process with your lost.

Hilda was truly an All-star Cheerleading great! I remember being amazed by how she could analyze and change a whole cheer routine to make it better in just minutes during a practice. Behind the firmness, Hilda had a compassionate heart that wanted the CFA cheerleaders to be at their best. Thank you, Hilda, for sharing your passion and gift that has given Nyla a strong foundation in cheering. Your legacy will continue to live through the many you have coached.

The cheering world will not be the same without Hilda McDaniel. Her loss has made such a huge impact and her presence empowered so many cheerleaders. Hilda taught me many things not only about cheerleading but about life. From all of the practices for Tuckahoe Little League to all of the USA practices, Hilda was there for me and every one of her cheerleaders. Im honored to be apart of her many cheerleading teams for many many years. My fondest memory with Hilda was when we won at Jekyll Island, Georgia. As soon as the announcer said we had won, she ran over to me and gave me a huge hug. I'll never forget that moment and all of the other special moments that I shared with Hilda. The list of memories could go on and on and on... RIP Hilda.

I didn't know her that well but at competitions she was always so helpful and would talk to anyone. She will be greatly missed by so many. But she will also be watching all of us from up above cheering us on! Melissa Maximum Allstar Xplosion Cheer Inc

Hilda-Thank you for giving me the opportunity to cheer at Cheer Factory! I had such an amazing time while I was there, and I have so many memories that will stay with me forever. Without you, I never would have done all star cheerleading. You are one of the best coaches I have ever had! Whenever I see pink and green I will think of you and all the great times I had at Cheer Factory.

Love and miss you!

Words can't express how much you impacted my life Hilda. Five years of competition cheerleading with you, but millions of memories. I'll never forget the car rides home from practices, the end of practice pow wows where we would all surround you, visiting you in the hotel rooms, and seeing the look on your face after we did a great run at competitions. I can't believe you're gone. I would not be half the person I am today, for you are the reason I made my high school team and continued on to being a captain. You also taught me discipline and teamwork. I am forever grateful for all that. I know it's going to be weird with you not here, but I know you are watching over your present and past cheerleaders, planning on your big debut of your team up there. Thank you again for everything you've done, not just for me, but for the cheerleading world as well. You are a legend that will never be forgotten. ♥

The cheering world has truly lost a legend. I cheered for you several years way back in your Tuckahoe Little League days and there wasn't a competition that we ever lost. It was because of you that cheering quickly became my love and passion. I will never forget all that you taught me & have so much respect for you and your dedication to this sport. Your perfection and creativity was undeniable. You really are one a kind, Hilda and Heaven has received an angle. Cheers!!

Hilda has touched many hearts and for Nicole and I it was through four years at Cheer Factory. As I read all the wonderful comments about Hilda introducing many many girls to competition cheering I have to be included in that respect. It was the best sport that Nicole ever participated in and excelled in so many positive ways. Cheer Factory with its pink and green will be with us forever! Just wanted to say that Nicole Perkins got a 100 on her 10th grade SOL English essay all because when asked to write an essay on who had had a positive influence in your life she did it on HILDA MCDANIEL!! I will never know what she wrote because they go to the state and we don't see them, but Nicole must have written a true reflection on Hilda.

We will remember you always - Wanda and Nicole Perkins.

There have not been words that have been produced to relate the relationships and guidance that Hilda gave freely to her girls and their parents. My life was enriched in just knowing her. All of us have lost a great person. My prayers go out to her family. May you take joy in her memory as you look at all the girls that she touched with her wisdom. In these girls, Hilda lives on.

I am so deeply saddened by your departure. You have been by my side since the day I walked into your gym and I cannot thank you enough for everything you have taught me. I have been with you since I was just five years old. You pushed me to be the best cheerleader I could be and constantly encouraged me to reach for my dreams. You were not only an amazing coach and mentor, but you have also been a dear friend to me. Our practices together were sometimes serious hard work, but so many times we'd end up laughing out loud. Those memories are so special to me and I will cherish them always. The teams you put together at Cheer Factory were something special, but they can't compete with the Lord's team in heaven. I will miss you more than you know. May God continue to bless and protect your family.

Love Always,

Treasure
