Hilda Smith Brown

BROWN, Hilda Smith, 72, of Hopewell, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Brown was born in Richmond and had been a resident of Hopewell for most of her life. Hilda had a great admiration for birds and was a dedicated fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins and the Cavaliers of the University of Virginia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Parks and Lizzie Hazelwood Smith; a brother, Floyd Smith; two sisters, Myrtle Miller and Thelma Miles. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Alfred Brown of Hopewell; two sons, Thomas Keith Brown and his wife, Donna, of Chester, and Kenneth Parks Brown of Hopewell; two grandchildren, Amber McCray and Aaron McCray, both of Chester; a sister, Kathleen Dolph and her husband, Elvin, of Weedsport, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Marie Smith of Hopewell and Catherine Wells of Dinwiddie; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Miller of Stanley, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with the Rev. Michael Browder of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery.
