JACKIE NEWTON

NEWTON, Jackie Woodrow, 68, husband of Nancy Hawkins Newton, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, January 12, 2010. He was the son of Woodrow and Alma Lewis Newton and was a graduate of Bluestone High School with the class of 1958. Jackie ws retired from Allied Signal, now Honeywell, having worked for 35 years. He was a member of Fields United Methodist Church. He was a loving and compassionate husband. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday in the chapel at Wakins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Randy Baisey officiating. Interment will follow in Fields United Methodist Church Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Jackie is also survived by his daughters, Jennifer Diane Newton of Hopewell, Jacqueline Hope Crutchfield of Stony Creek; sons, Jason Downs Newton and Gregory Todd Newton, both of Hopewell; and stepsons, Keith Hawkins of Oxford, N.C. and Andy Hawkins of Warrenton. Four grandchildren and one stepgrandchild also survive. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel Gauldin Newton; and grandson, Colby Crutchfield.
