James Edwards Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Dec. 17 to Dec. 18, 2009.
EDWARDS, James Carl, 80, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2009. Carl was the wonderful husband, soul-mate and best friend of Mavis C. Edwards for over 60 years; a beloved father and special friend to the Reverend James A. Edwards of Midlothian, Virginia; a special father-in-law to Loyce Edwards; and a dear grandfather of J. Andrew Edwards and his wife, Keeli, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Carl Edwards. He was also an active and beloved member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church for over 30 years, following several years of service in the United Methodist congregations at Belmont and Walmsley Boulevard. Thank you to many business acquaintances of Carl's Radiator and Auto Glass, Inc. for over 35 years of patronage. Thanks also to the staff and friends of Southerland Place for their many kindnesses. Following a funeral service in Nashville, N.C., a celebration of Carl's life will be held at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, Midlothian, Va. on Sunday, December 20 at 2:30 p.m. Donations in Carl's memory to Bon Secours Hospice are most welcome. Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Chapel of Nashville, 226 S. Barnes Street, Nashville, N.C. 27856. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.johnsonfuneralsand cremations.com.

Mavis,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We were so sorry to hear of Carl's passing but know that he is heaven with my Dad...maybe even moving the heavenly furniture around together! He was such a sweet man and I always enjoyed speaking to him when I was at Southerland. We know that your son and daughter-n-law will provide you comfort and strength. With sincere sympathy,
(Dolores Rinaldi's daughter & family)

Mr. Edwards was a gentleman with a very sweet spirit about him. It was my pleasure to have known him, his devoted wife, and his son and daughter-n-law. I know their faith will carry them through this sad time.
