Uncle Jimmy it's been a long time. I think of you often. And home on the corner is not the same. I miss hearing you on a Friday night singing Lynyrd Skynyrd. You gave me advice when I needed it and you always new how to talk to me without making me feel worse. I'm now almost 40. And I am in California wishing for your advice because I don't know what to do. I miss you

Jimmy,
You've been gone for a year but you are missed every single day. I'm sure your proud of your little ones right now because I know you've been watching them from above, you will even have a new addition to the family! I know you would have been the best grandpa, just like you were a father, friend, son, and uncle. We love you Jimmy.

The loss of someone so close is difficult to bear. We share your grief. My son Kyle & Rex were on the same state tournament bowling team & were doubles partners during this weekend. Kyle & his sister Tori lost their father (also a James, Jr.) to a two year battle with cancer the same weekend (Saturday June 26th). For these two boys to be partners at this time, I know God was with them to help them get through this together. Our hearts go out to Rex and his family.

To a good friend and a great ball player. I can remember coaching you. I'm gonna miss you. Although through the years time passes & we only could chat every now & then. Baseball was our life. I'm still coaching now - can't seem to get it out of my system. Wow, you are in Heaven what a true "Field of Dreams". I wish your family peace and my prayers are with you.

There are times when words never seem adequate and with the passing of Jimmy Leigh I find it very difficult to express my feelings to his family because there aren't any words that would ease their pain. However, the overwhelming support exhibited by Jimmy's freinds and family at his visitation and funeral demonstrate how many lives he touched while he was with us.
Jimmy's legacy was obvious to everyone through Rex as he revealed the life's lessons his father taught him when he bravely spoke at his fathers funeral.
Jimmy was a long ime employee and friend who became part of our family early on. I recall when Jimmy brought his father and then his son in not for them to meet me, but for me to meet his family which he was so proud of. Jimmy,Sr. and I became friends thereafter, speaking from time to time.
I was blessed to know Jimmy Leigh. A big man with a big heart, that many called Tiny, whose love of life and family was anything but tiny.
To his family, I truly share your pain and will miss Jimmy.

My brother Donald and I went thru Highland Springs Highschool with Jimmy. I remember his love for life then. Ironically, as an adult, my son Mitch and Rex played t-ball together, and as luck would have it Jimmy and my husband helped coach the team as well. I remember their main goal, show those boys how to play and have fun at it on the field! I am sure if Donald were here he would express how saddened that the world should be that they lost one of the truly good guys, and how lucky heaven is to have him. I am sure that Donald and Jimmy will enjoy many a laugh together up there, as they watch over their children, and laugh at all of us down here. May time and God's love soften this terrible blow.

Jimmy was a good husband, son, brother, friend and the best Dad a child could ever have. He had a HEART as big as the outdoors. He made all my wrongs right and encouraged me to make things better even after we parted. He always looked after everyone, even strangers if he could. Jimmy knew that I will do what he would have done for me. He was my friend and I loved him through all the ups and downs and for giving me his shadow, Rex. He will never be forgotten and in our hearts forever.

I cherish the many times that we have talked and worked out problems with our lives. You were there when I needed you and I hope I was there when you needed me. We could always be honest with each other. I know that I feel the way that many do when I say that I wish that I had one more opportunity to talk to you again. There is a place in my heart that is missing and I feel like the safety net has been removed from under me. You were my safe place. There are not many are aware of the friendship that we had together but those who do understand as you do the tremendous loss and void in my life without you in it. I will miss you and keep you in my heart always.

I met Jimmy through my late husband, Wesley Holloman. He was such a nice friend and I thought a lot of him. He also thought a lot of our dog, Rosie and boy did she love him. She always knew when he came over because the truck would beep when he backed up and she would run to the door to greet him.
I needed some help with Wesley when he was very ill and Jimmy came over without hesitating. He spoke at Wesley's memorial and I, as well, as others was very moved and I know Wesley would have been grateful to know he spoke so highly of him. He also helped me move after Wesley's passing. He would call me every so often to check on me and make sure that I was okay. Wesley thought a lot of Jimmy and his family. I saw him about a week ago and waved and hollered at him out the car window. He was the same Jimmy, so kind and friendly. My heart is heavy with sadness. I know Wesley is happy to see him. I will miss him very much.

To the Leigh family,
I didn't know Jim for long, but have known Jimmy, Sr. for many years. In the short time that I was privileged to know Jim, I could tell he was a kind and gentle man, whose sons thought the world of him. Rex and Matthew, know how much your Dad loves you, he will always be in your hearts and memories. Jimmy and Shirley, I can't imagine the pain of losing a child, Jim was taken much too soon, no one but God knows why, but it seems that perhaps Matthew had the best explanation.
Elias and I will miss seeing Jim at the bowling alley on Saturday mornings.
God Bless you all.

I grew up knowing Jimmy and even though just a close family friend, I always considered him like an uncle. The world has lost a terrific person, one who would gladly give the shirt off his back if you needed it. There was a reason why Jimmy had no enemies, mainly because his heart was twice the size as he. My heart goes out to Rex, Matthew, the rest of his family, and his many, many friends. We will miss Jimmy very much and it was a privilege to know someone as great as he. Love you Jimmy, Rest In Peace.

"Those we love
must someday pass
beyond our present sight...
must leave us
and the world we know
without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle,
their lovely light will shine
to brighten up another place
more perfect...more divine.
And in the realm of Heaven,
where they shine
so warm and bright,
our loved ones live forevermore
in God's eternal light."
