"Your Mom is a good and decent person" was heard many times throughout the years from those who came in contact with her. What a wonderful thing to be remembered for! Her children received unconditional acceptance, grace and love inspired by the presence of our Lord and Savior in her mind, body and spirit. Steve Fentriss

Sending thoughts and prayers to all of the family and her friends. I, too, had the privilege of working with Joan in the Trust Department at UVB - she was a mentor and a colleague, respected and genuinely liked by all who worked with her. I hope the blessings of her life brings peace to all of you.

My thoughts go out to Joan's family. She was a wonderful person and a very competent officer who was helpful to all at the bank.

I was very saddened to learn of Joan's passing. I was an auditor at United Virginia Bank ( Crestar/SunTrust) when Joan was an officer in the Trust Department headed by Doug Hartzell. I was always impressed with the breadth and depth of Joan's knowledge of the trust business and her excellent customer service skills as well. I rarely found any "audit exceptions" in Joan's work. through the years I considered Joan not only a bank colleague, but a friend as well. I shall miss her. Marcia Stackhouse, CPA

I was blessed to have worked under Joan's leadership at one of my first jobs and consider her a friend and great mentor. I know she will be missed by all. My prayers are with her family and friends.

I was fortunate to have the office next to Joan at Crestar Bank for a brief period before her retirement. I found her to be kind, interesting and I knew she had a full life she cherished outside of work. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family.
