JOHN ELKO III

ELKO, John W. III, 67, of Colonial Heights, died June 5, 2010. He was the oldest son of the late John W. Elko Jr. and Ruth Louise Gregory Elko. John was a 1961 graduate of Colonial Heights High School, a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and MCV School of Pharmacy. He worked for many years, as a Pharmacist in the Richmond Metro area. John was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Petersburg, a member of the Virginia Pharmacists Association, and the Richmond Ski Club. John loved to attend auctions and food festivals. He rarely missed the Armenian, Lebanese, and Greek Festivals in Richmond. He will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by four sisters, Susan E. Tardy and husband, Carroll, of Claremont, Va., Patricia A. Robertson and husband, Morris, of Sutherland, Va., Mary Lou Reynolds of St. Cloud, Fla., and Pamela E. Sweeney and husband, George, of Chesterfield; four brothers, Daniel R. Elko and wife, Wanda, Joseph B. and wife, Betty, Gregory L. and George A. and wife, Tamara, all of Chesterfield, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 West Washington Street, Petersburg, Va. 23803, with Father Steve Antes as celebrant.
