It's Holy week in 2020 and I received an email from legacy.com to remind me of "John" Ray Green passing so many years ago. My wife and I still talk of John's character and impact on our lives. Last year, my son graduated from Virginia Military Institute, a milestone in his life. A life impacted by John at a critical moment in his younger days. My son will remember John's mentoring for the rest of his life. John "We knew you". Well done faithful servant.

John will be sorely missed. He was a quiet and dependable person. He lived a Christian witness by always being ready to help -- even anticipating when help was needed. When I needed to move a new desk into my office a few month ago, he saw this and immediately stopped what he was doing to come over and help me until it was in the perfect position. I wish I had been able to know him better. What a gentle giant of a man. May he enjoy his just reward in heaven with our Lord for eternity. Thank you John!

To the family of our beloved Sister Okumo we just want to let you know we feel your loss and we are praying that God will strengthen you through this time of bereavement. The scripture tells us that just a little while longer and death will be no more. It also states that God will wipe all tears from your eyes
God Bless you and keep you

Effy,
John was one of the first people I met at McKesson. In fact, he helped get me up and running on my computer when I first started. I was saddened to hear of his transition. I pray that you will find peace and comfort knowing that he is now with the Master. Know that there are many here keeping you and your family in prayer. There is no sorrow on Earth that Heaven cannot heal. Know that God WILL take care of you and bring you peace.

I worked with John for the past 3 years, and now my heart aches because a beautiful person has left us for his heavenly home. I will always remember John's kindness, respect, love for his family and his love for his country. He was easy to love and admire... John, you will be missed!

John impacted my son and I will forever be greatful. Sometimes a teenager needs another adult for guidance. John was that other adult. This past summer, my son decided to play Freshman football. John gave him counsel as to what positions would be good for his body type and experience. As the gruelling summer training wore on, John encouraged and counseled some more. Then, the fall brought forth JROTC. Well, John was right in there talking about uniforms, formalities, and his many many military experiences.
God put John in our lives for many reasons. His positive impact on my son will last a life time.
God Blessed us with you John

John Green was a husband, father, patriot, Christian, role-model, mentor to my children, employee, and friend. We spent 1/3 of each week together over the past 3 years. Not once was his character or professionalism ever in question.
John impacted all of our customers, as well. He was a diligent worker that always got the task done, no matter what. He had a positive relationship with everyone of them. Some of his work has left a lasting impact on the national scene (Lumber Liquidators, Dominion Power, Perdue Farms, Virginia State Agencies). All have systems in place that John implemented and supported. I can't even guess at the amount of money lost if his systems didn't have a 100% uptime.
John thank you for your service to your family and to our business. You were in my thoughts each day for 3 years and will continue to be for years to come.
God Bless

I read all of the guestbook entries to date. They all validated my recent 3 years of life with John Green. In the business world, Ray, Raymond, went by John. I never asked him why, but he was John to us. John continued all of those same character traits thay many of you wrote about, since meeting him in middle school or NBHS. John talked often of New Bern, of childhood, football, church, and teenager exploits. John did "live" everyday and impacted everyone in a positive way. He always provided a Christian witness to others. That is one of John's many legacy's!
May God Bless Effy and each of his 3 children all the days of their lives. John was one of our blessings!

My sympathy to the Green family in your time of sorrow and loss. Raymond was always pleasant in my dealings with him. The smiling picture of him is very appropriate for he would always smile with me as we passed in the halls of the school. He was a positive influence at NBHS.

To the family of Raymond Green, sorry to hear about such a sad moment in life. I went to school with him just about my whole life.
