KATIE CARAPICO Obituary

CARAPICO, Katie, died August 7, 2010. Born Catherine Christina Maloney in Dublin, Ireland, on December 18, 1921, she came to the U.S. and married Gene Carapico on August 5, 1948, moved to Richmond in 1960, and became an American citizen on February 24, 1964 in Richmond. Her daughters, Sheila and Moira Carapico, other members of the Carapico family, and friends will remember her as a fabulous cook, a world traveler, and an activist for civil rights and social justice. A memorial service will be held at St. Bridget's Catholic Church on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11 a.m. Donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Habitat for Humanity are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
